Ontario Vipassana Foundation

The Foundation, which owns and operates the Ontario Vipassana Centre, is a non-profit charitable organization that is governed by a Board of Directors who are old students established in their practice and serve voluntarily with the volition to help others. Directors are appointed annually by the Centre Teachers. The Centre Teachers were appointed by S.N.Goenka in his lifetime.

Directors oversee the operation and development of the centre and the activities of a number of standing committees (listed separately) that report to the Foundation at monthly meetings. The Foundation is completely self-supporting. Donations received from old students of Vipassana are used only for the Ontario Vipassana Centre and are not sent to other centres. Similarly, the centre does not receive funds from other groups or organizations.

Meetings of the Ontario Vipassana Foundation are generally held six times per year at Dhamma Torana – The Ontario Vipassana Centre – on a Sunday morning.

The meetings start at 10:00 a.m. and end at approximately 1:00 p.m. (unless otherwise indicated) and will be preceded by a group sitting between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Meditators who will be coming to the meeting are asked to also attend this sitting.

A schedule of forthcoming meetings is provided in the calendar below. Occasionally the schedule does change so if you are planning to attend, it would be advisable to contact the Centre or the Foundation Secretary to confirm.
